What is it you loved about your GLL gown and accessories?
Did you go to a GLL showroom or purchase your gown online? Tell us about this experience.
This part might make me cry. I fell in love with Grace Loves Lace on Instagram prior to even being engaged. I had my sights set on the Edie gown shortly after our engagement in April. I tried going to different bridal stores in Canada but all I could imagine was wearing the Edie gown and nothing compared, so I decided “thats it, I am going to Grace Loves Lace”. I went on the GLL website and booked an appointment at their LA showroom, then convinced my mother, sister and mother in law to come with me! We flew down to California in August and I was on a mission to get the dress I could not stop obsessing over.
I can still picture the big wood door with Grace Loves Lace across it. My heart was pounding, I was so excited. We were welcomed by the lovely Bec, had a glass of Champagne and walked to the back of the showroom. Everything about the showroom was romantic and comfortable. I picked five gowns to try on, the Edie being number five! When I slipped the Edie gown on in the change room I looked at Bec and we both knew that this was my wedding gown. Bec made me feel like this dress was made for me, she grabbed the Mandala Veil placed it in my hair, plucked the fresh cut flowers out of the vase sitting at her desk and put them in my hands. I walked out of the room and we all knew that the Edie was “the one”. Champagne pop moment!
If this wasn’t enough emotion, my mom had spotted a gown that she could not keep her eyes off of. Our appointment was just about over but she asked Bec if I could try just one more on, the Arlo gown. Of course! I slip into the buttery, simple yet sexy Arlo gown and immediately fall in love with it and everything it did for my body. I thought to myself, this is the perfect nighttime gown. After staring at myself in the mirror I walked out of the change room and everyone was silent. Through the silence I could hear a familiar faint song on the radio and I listened closer. I thought the girls were playing a joke on me. Our first dance song was playing on the radio at that very moment, “I’m on Fire by Bruce Springsteen”. Not an overly popular, everyday radio tune if you ask me! It was meant to be vibes and I bought the dress.
Describe your wedding day look…
It rained the morning of our wedding, it freshened the air and lightened the mood. It set this relaxing tone for the entire day. My wedding day look was elegant, put together, yet effortless in the same breath.
How did he propose?
Josh had come home that day from work and asked for my help to carry in groceries. I did not think much of it but when I closed the refrigerator door he was behind me on one knee with a beautiful ring. He said to me “I love you and I can’t imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?”
What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?
My goal was to be relaxed and enjoy the day honestly. I think we achieved that, everything about the day fell into place. We were so grateful to celebrate our love with guests from all over Canada and the USA.
Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…
I ordered my dress over a year in advanced to my wedding date and I did not go on any crazy diets or workout plans. I think the most important piece of advice to share is to stay healthy and maintain that. Drink lots of water and get plenty rest the night before!
Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…
Just get the dress from Grace Loves Lace that you are obsessed with and keep looking at on Instagram. Nothing will compare. The experience, the customer service, the look everyone gives you when they see you in that gown is priceless.
