A GLL woman is to you…

Graceful and confident. Wild and free and true to herself.

What is it you loved about your GLL gown and accessories?

I was following Grace Loves Lace on Instagram before I was even engaged and every time I saw a photo of the Inca I thought that is the dress I want to get married in! I flew up to the Gold Coast with a friend from work and after trying on both the Inca and the Hollie I could not choose. I loved them both. So I flew back a couple of months later with three of my bridesmaids hoping they would be able to help me choose the one. I tried the Hollie on first and they all said “yep that’s it, that’s the dress you have to get that one”. But I still felt the Inca was the one and when I tried it on they went “oh no I see the problem they are both so perfect”. We still couldn’t choose so both it was! I decided on the Inca for the ceremony as it was the more traditional of the two and it was the dress I always wanted to get married in. The Hollie being a little more paired back, effortless but stunning and the way it floated with me made it perfect for my beachside reception and the dance floor.

Describe your wedding day look…

Boho, Natural, Romantic.

How did he propose?

I came home after being at the beach with friends and found Lee standing in the middle of our backyard holding a single white rose with white rose petals sprinkled all over the yard before he got down on one knee. He had set up a beautiful picnic with champagne and a cheese platter and we spent the rest of the afternoon out there in our hammock.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

Just that everyone had a really good time. We wanted to keep it relaxed with delicious food and the drinks flowing and everyone on the dance floor. We chose a band we thought everyone would love and it worked, we felt so surrounded by so much love and joy all day and in the end everyone was on the dance floor from my baby nephews to my grandparents.

The funniest moment on the day was…

I was completely unaware that we (the bridal party) were all standing on a green ants nest during the ceremony. Three bridesmaids, the groom and two groomsmen were bitten. Lee told me later he was secretly flicking them off me during the ceremony and ignored the fact he could feel them crawling up his pants. The other groomsmen looked like they were dancing trying to shake them out. It was also a very hot day and the best man who was very nervous about his best man speech sweated so much that it went through his shirt and through his jacket to drench the speech. When he pulled it out it fell apart and had smudged. He found some duct tape at the venue to join it back together and ended up making a wonderful speech.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Probably my perfectionism haha. I wanted every detail to be perfect and spent so much time on every aspect but all of our vendors did such a wonderful job and on the day I don’t think I would have even noticed if something went wrong. I did not particularly enjoy all the planning but it was all worth it in the end everything was amazing.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

I try to live a pretty healthy lifestyle as is by eating well, walking and practicing yoga. I didn’t really change the routine too much except I was on holidays in the lead up to the wedding so was able to do yoga every day which I think helped to keep me relaxed as the day drew closer.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

My friends joke about the fact I can’t delegate and I was very sure of how I wanted everything to be so insisted on doing as much as possible myself. I think letting other people help more would have made that part more enjoyable. The best part of our day was celebrating our love with the people closest to us so don’t stress over the little things and remember what it’s all about…the love.
