CODY & AMBER
A GLL woman is to you…
WHICH GLL DRESS DID YOU CHOOSE AND HOW DID YOU KNOW IT WAS ‘THE ONE’?
I wanted to have a beach wedding, so I knew I wanted a dress that was light and easy to move in, with a timeless, simple yet elegant style. Well before I was engaged, I saved the Honey Silk dress to my Pinterest board SO MANY times without even realising! It was actually the first dress I saved to my board. But, I never did any deep digging because I felt like I was getting ahead of myself. When I got engaged, I was surprised to find that the dress actually existed! (I’d gotten so used to dead-end links on Pinterest.) I sent the dress to my mom, and she was in love too! I was ready to buy it online right then and there, no questions asked. I hadn’t even tried on any other dresses yet! But my mom insisted we fly out to Dallas to try it on in the showroom. We planned our trip, and in the month leading up to our visit, I tried on other dresses. Each time I tried one on, all we could think about was how nothing quite stacked up to the Honey Silk. When I finally put on the Honey Silk, I just KNEW!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WHEN YOU FOUND YOUR DRESS, DID YOU BUY YOUR WEDDING DRESS ONLINE OR IN ONE OF OUR SHOWROOMS?
The Dallas showroom was a DREAM! Having been in crowded, loud boutiques, the GRACE showroom experience was unmatched. The showroom is so light, airy, relaxing and intimate. I felt so at ease while shopping (with a glass of bubbles!), and Emily was such an angel! She made sure I felt comfortable and confident, every step of the way. And, she was SO GOOD at helping me style and accessorise for the day! I don’t think I could’ve had a better experience. We happened to be the only ones in the showroom at the time. It was such a treat! Thanks, Emily! xoxo
HOW DID YOU FEEL IN YOUR DRESS ON THE DAY?
I truly felt like a goddess. I loved every single thing about it!
WHERE DID YOU GET MARRIED? TELL US ABOUT THE LOCATION & THE STYLE OF YOUR WEDDING DAY.
Our wedding day was WILDLY different from the day we’d planned! We originally were going to have a sunset ceremony at our favorite beach with about 40 of our closest friends and family. But, COVID19 had other plans. It was actually quite stressful as it all began to unfold mere weeks before our wedding date. And, my husband has Multiple Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease, so we had a lot to consider by way of his and our guests’ health and safety. Unfortunately, the day we dreamed of just wasn’t plausible. We were devastated. But, my lovely mother pulled together a small ceremony with our parents and siblings in just two weeks! We kept things simple and ended up saying our ‘I do’s under a beautiful, massive pecan tree at Meadowlark1939, just outside of Atlanta. (I actually dreamed that I got married under a big tree several years ago!) The Meadowlark folks were offering assistance to couples affected by COVID19, and we are SO GRATEFUL for them! My husband and I got to enjoy a private dinner in their greenhouse and it was so magical. Despite it all, the day ended up being more ‘us’ than we could have imagined. We truly had the best day ever.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR HAIR AND MAKEUP LOOK AND THE ACCESSORIES YOU CHOSE…
Because of the pandemic, there was no way for me to have my hair, makeup or nails done. 😰 So, I had to wing it! I tried to keep it super simple and easy, as I’m no expert in any of those! I wore the BEAUTIFUL Shimmy Veil, along with the Mala earrings, and Mata anklets as they coordinated perfectly with the gorgeous freshwater pearls on the Honey Silk dress. I wore my mother’s wedding day slippers, since my dress was tailored for me to be barefoot on the beach! I also wore her wedding day flower crown that was attached to her veil after the ceremony.
WHAT MADE YOUR DAY EXTRA SPECIAL?
The intimacy. With all of the stress going on in the world, it was incredible to just let go and share that moment together with just us.
The funniest moment on the day was…
We forgot to sign our marriage license! We didn’t remember until we were about to leave. So we have funny pictures of us signing it in the car!
WHERE WILL YOU BE HONEYMOONING?
We originally planned to honeymoon in Jamaica! But we of course had to pivot our plans there as well. So, we went up to the mountains in Blue Ridge, Georgia for a mini-moon and it was perfect! We surely missed our tropical getaway, but we really enjoyed a lot of cozy time in front of a fire with an incredible mountain view.
