In the Francis Gown

A GLL woman is to you…

A white horse; passionate, free spirited and completely authentic to herself

What is it you loved about your GLL gown and accessories?

I came across Grace Loves Lace on Pinterest before we were even engaged. From the moment I saw all of your beautiful gowns I knew when the time came, I wouldn’t have to look anywhere else. We live on the south coast of NSW and I decided I had to see and try the GLL gowns. So 10 months before our wedding day I took the trip to Grace Loves Lace Showroom in Queensland and that is what I did. I actually thought I would choose the Inca, however, from the moment I slipped the Francis on I just fell in love with everything about her. She’s light, romantic and breathtakingly beautiful.

Describe your wedding day look…

Romantic & Elegant with a Spanish influence.

How did he propose?

We have been together for 8 years so he knows I love my sleep and I don’t like to wake up early if I don’t have to. However, he is a surfer and feels quite the opposite. One morning, he woke me and insisted we go and watch the sun rise at Barrack Point, a small cliff by the ocean which we also call “Our Spot. “Our Spot” is where he took me when we first met at school, and the place where we both knew we wanted to be with each other. I eventually agreed on the condition I would be able to get my fix of caffeine first!! As we waited, it was very cloudy and overcast and he seemed to be worried that the sun wouldn’t come through which I thought was a little strange, but as we were about to leave, in the exact direction we were standing the clouds opened up and the most beautiful sun rays shone through, that’s when he asked to marry him. I was so touched that he thought of an intimate and meaningful way to ask me to spend the rest of my life with him. And of course I said yes!

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

The most important aspect of our wedding day for me was that everyone could enjoy themselves. We wanted to create a party vibe, nothing structured or overly formal and for everyone to be able to share the special moments with us which will be our treasured memories forever. Adam and I have always been about fun and living in the moment. Our family and friends mean the world to us and we were just so happy that everyone that we loved would be there with us to celebrate our happiness.

The funniest moment on the day was…

Looking back, for me, the funniest moments on the day were definitely the groomsmen speeches, and trekking through the Forrest to capture our beautiful photos, watching Adam surprise his mum during our Father/Daughter & Mother/Son dance (he is a terrible dancer but a very sweet son) and the absolute passion everyone had on the dance floor!

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Remembering not to forget anything! We had just come back from a 10 week trip around Europe which was also 12 months of planning from the year before, as well as working full time and studying full time. But by the last two weeks I thought to myself; the small things do not matter!

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

Rest, pamper yourself the week before the wedding even if you’re not fussy about those things and if you like to write or have a creative outlet, express any stress or nerves you feel in your work. I felt completely calm and relaxed on the big day and the whole week leading up.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Best chances are you’re marrying your best friend, the man you love with your whole heart and soul and the one person who knows you a little better than you know yourself. So remember that, and any time you feel a little nervous, carry that thought with you. Every time I looked at him, I would just feel nothing but complete calmness and pure happiness.
