In the Francis Gown
Congratulations on your recent wedding, you looked stunning! Tell us how and why you chose your GLL gown?
I have never been a girl who had in mind how my wedding dress was going to be. I never thought I was going to get married! So when it all happened I was very confused and lost… so I started making appointments at bridal shops and that’s when at least I found what I didn’t like. Not at all. Eight bridal shops in London and not one dress I liked. So that’s when I got scared. After a while… going online I found the Hollie dress and felt absolutely in love with it! I told everyone I found my dress! I was a bit scared about doing the whole online thing… but I had a feeling it was going to be good.. the problem was, one day I woke up and I saw on the GLL Instagram that the Hollie dress was going to be out of stock or something like that so as the superstitious girl that I am I took that as a sign and all of the sudden I checked the Francis gown… and my heart stopped, I think I actually had a tear. I didn’t cry with the Hollie dress.. so.. that was it..
So tell us, how did you both meet?
I was living in Bali. He was living in Bali. I was walking for a brand at a fashion show, he was sitting there watching the fashion show. At the party he came to me and he hold my hand and said “you are very ugly.”
Was it love at first sight or was it a slow burn kinda situation?
Well, after a beautiful night talking to each other I went home and he kept messaging me for almost a month on Facebook. He wanted to take me on a date but the day I met him at the fashion show I felt something I never felt before so I didn’t want to see him at all just in case I wanted him forever. So basically, it was love at first sight but we didn’t kiss until after two months of Facebook messages. Ha ha. And after the first kiss we moved in together!
What first attracted you to your partner?
He is this very confident but shy, sexy Welsh guy.
And the proposal? How did that go down?
He nailed it. You wont believe it! The story is I’m an actress and my favourite place in the world is this old theatre in Brighton (UK) where we have been living for the last 2 and a half years. One day he went to work and left a letter at home saying meet me at 5 at the Royal Theatre, I was very excited, he was taking me to the theatre and not to the football! While I was walking down to the theatre I actually got a bit confused and felt I wanted to kill him… it was Thursday and on Thursdays there aren’t plays at 5 o clock. But I kept walking… and as soon as I arrived there was this lady at the door and she said “ Hello Gina, welcome to the theatre. Please, follow me” and I knew. I knew what was about to happen. The theatre was empty but musicians were playing different instruments all over the theatre. They sat me at the royal box and all went pitch black. When the lights turned on he was there.. downstairs, looking at me, and he said “ You are my best friend, will you marry me?”
How did you feel on your day and how did you style your GLL look?
Best day of our lives. I felt happy and comfortable all the time, it’s such a beautiful dress to wear! And it’s so easy to wear! For the ceremony I decided to wear something very clean and simple because the dress itself is enough. So I tied up my hair and I wore my grandmother’s earrings and necklace. For the party I got barefoot, put my hair down and put some natural flowers in my hair.
What was your most memorable moment?
When my dad looked at me and he said how proud he is.
What did you find the easiest and hardest thing about planning a wedding?
Easiest was planning the wedding. The hardest was realizing the wedding was over.
Any top tips or advice you can give fellow GLL brides (beauty, health & wellness, planning etc)?
Be yourself, don’t listen to anyone. As soon as you say you are getting married everyone will know about weddings more than you and they will just confuse you. Enjoy every second because it goes very fast, drink expensive bubbles and have a pack of tissues for the next morning!
Describe your GLL experience…
Since I ordered my dress, until the last moment I wore it, was beautiful. Very, very beautiful. And I’m so glad I did wear such a special dress… every single person at the wedding was amazed by the dress, so I guess it’s one of the good choices I made in life!
