In the Alexandra Gown

How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

I originally saw a picture of the Hollie dress on Pinterest years ago and forever obsessed over it until I went in to actually try on the dresses. I never expected I would pick the Alexandra, but the minute I put it on I knew it was the right one. The accessories just naturally happened as I kept adding on more pieces.

Describe your look in three words…

Sexy, classic, romantic

How did he propose?

David and I spend a lot of time on the north shore of Kauai, HI. I spent my summers growing up there; my parents found love there, got engaged there, and started my family there. I started taking David when we began dating because it is one of my favourite places in the world and I wanted to share it with him and we just keep going back. In June 2015, on an incredibly still and sunny morning, David, myself and a group of friends got on a boat to go up the Napali Coast for the whole day. One of our friends is a boat captain and took us through water caves, jet skied up to secret beaches only accessible by boat, went swimming with turtles and looked for waterfalls.  We got to a cave known as the “open ceiling cave” that has a big rock in the middle of it (look it up, no seriously).  The light shines through the top and the water is the most insane blue colour you’ve ever seen.  David asked if I wanted to go take a picture on the rock and our friends on the boat would take our picture.  We jumped in the ocean and swam up to the rock and as we were getting ready to pose, he got down on one knee. We ended the night just the two of us staying at the Princeville hotel overlooking Hanalei Bay drinking champagne and celebrating.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

Everyone having a great time. I wanted the dance floor full and packed until the end, and it definitely was! Our DJ was amazing!

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

David’s older brother was the best man, and had everyone laughing to tears with the best man speech!  We still laugh thinking about it!

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Surprisingly the planning went very smoothly since I started about 8 months before hand.  I focused on one vendor at a time and ended up cake tasting last which was so fun!  I think the most stressful part was overthinking and trying to visualize what it would look like when it all came together but you just have to go with your gut.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

Incorporate some kind of regular work out routine months before to alleviate stress, feel better and get in shape early, if you don’t already. Make sure it’s something you enjoy doing. Also, start replacing any other drinks for water now!

A GLL woman is to you…

A woman that is timeless, elegant and in love.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Just let go of the things you can’t control and be present. The vendors know what they’re doing and by this time, so should everyone in your wedding.  Let go, be present, and have fun!
