Keely in the Inca Gown

Kevin & Keely

In the Inca Gown

Congratulations on your recent wedding, you looked stunning! Tell us how and why you chose your GLL gown?

I have had my eye on GLL for many years now! Once Kevin popped the question I immediately contacted GLL to see if there would be a trunk show near me in Southern California. Actually, I inquired about a show anywhere in the US as I would have been willing to travel to try them on! Unfortunately, there was nothing scheduled in the US. After a couple of failed attempts at dress shopping near me, I was fortunately asked to travel to Melbourne, Australia for work! I took this as a sign and booked a ticket to the Gold Coast after my work event on a little solo dress-shopping mission. Not only was the appointment perfect, my stylist was so incredibly awesome and helpful! I tried on several dresses but once I slipped on the INCA I knew right away – there was not a doubt in my mind! The solo trip to Australia was something I will always hold so dear, exploring the Gold Coast was incredible and I will never forget that trip and how special it was to me!

So tell us, how did you both meet?

Kevin and I met through my bother. I was in Orange County (Southern California) to visit family and friends and was invited on what started as a daytime harbour cruise on a friend’s boat. The day time harbour cruise turned into a evening mission to Catalina Island, which is 26 miles off the coast of Southern California, to partake in the island’s evening bar scene. We danced the night away and, as they say, the rest is history. We started our relationship with an adventure and it has been filled with spontaneous adventures ever since!

Was it love at first sight or was it a slow burn kinda situation?

A little bit of both! There was definitely the attraction at first sight and we never failed to have fun with each other! I think the process of getting to know each other and falling in love was slow and steady! We took our time and got engaged a few months after our four-year anniversary. At that point we had already been through so much of life’s crazy experiences: losing family members, buying a home, traveling the world and adopting a dog, that it already felt like we were married. Actually getting to celebrate with all of friends and family was just the icing on the cake!

What first attracted you to your partner?

Besides being easy on the eyes Kevin is extremely humble, compassionate and hysterical. He’s the kind of person where people go out of their way to tell you how wonderful of a person he is, just an all around good guy!

And the proposal? How did that go down?

We are both lucky enough to spend a few months of our winters on the North Shore of Oahu for work each year. There is a path down to the beach right at the Backdoor/Pipeline surf break where we always would walk down to watch the sunset when we were living on a farm across the street. This was always “our spot”, so on a beautiful day in December Kevin and I walked down to look for a friend that was busy taking photos of the surf down the beach. He stopped me at our spot, said a bunch of adorable things I can’t quite remember as I started to figure out what was going on, and then popped the question. Our friend taking photos of the surf was actually across the beach shooting the engagement! The beach was packed because the surf was going off that day and once everyone figured out what was happening, we had people all around clapping! It was perfect!

How did you feel on your day and how did you style your GLL look?

I felt wonderful on the wedding day. I wore a gorgeous crown of flowers and fresh herbs, which beautifully tied in the bohemian look and wedding vibe!

Where did you get inspiration from for your wedding?

Pinterest! I pulled photos from so many different sources, but our ultimate goal was a rustic, bohemian wedding in the woods!

What was your most memorable moment?

There are so many! The ceremony itself was perfect, the first dance was so special and my dad jamming with the wedding band, playing harmonica was so awesome!

What was your wedding song / playlist?

We danced to “Into the mystic” by Van Morrison, which has always been our song. Our playlist was mostly old school rock!

And where are you honeymooning?

We honeymooned on the North Shore of Kauai. We paddled the Na Pali coast and camped for the first few days and then posted up in a hotel and lounged for the rest. It was perfect!
