In the Luna Valeria Set

A GLL woman is to you…

A woman who is stylish and wants something a little different.

What is it you loved about your GLL gown and accessories?

The first dress I tried on was the Paloma and it was love at first sight. I literally said, “umm I think I’m done here, let’s look at bridesmaids options”. I tried on the Luna set for my bridesmaids and again, love at first sight.  We were initially having a somewhat formal cocktail attire wedding and then we decided to tailor it more to us and have a relaxed backyard wedding in Andy’s hometown. I decided my “bridesmaids dress” would actually be far better suited for me and our style of wedding. I didn’t end up having official bridesmaids because we’re going to celebrate with our Kiwi & Aussie friends & family later this year.

Did you go to a GLL showroom or purchase your gown online? Tell us about this experience.

I had always followed GLL on Instagram and when I was passing through California with some girlfriends last year, I realised it would be the perfect opportunity to book in at the Venice Beach showroom. The space is amazing, we made a morning of it, had some Champagne, a fews laughs and viewed the incredible collection.

Describe your wedding day look…

Beachy, relaxed and very me!

How did he propose?

We were in Mexico on a family holiday. He popped the question amongst our friends and family on a stunning beach. We live far away from his family in Cali, so it was really nice having them there for this moment.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

To make sure we had fun. We only spent an hour getting our photos taken as we wanted to rush back and hang out with our friends and family.

The funniest moment on the day was…

At one stage, we were dancing and I realised I didn’t know the people I was dancing with. San Clemente’s a small town and word got out that we were having a party.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Firstly planning a wedding from overseas is pretty tricky but Andy’s family were really helpful and they had so many connections when it came to flowers, catering etc. Secondly, hiring a house online and telling the owners that you’re having a dinner party (not a wedding), kept us on our toes! But yes, if you’re wondering, we got our full deposit back!

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

In terms of wedding diets, I was probably one of the worst brides in history. We caught up with our friends the night before the wedding and I ordered the “Man Fries”, think fries topped with pulled pork, cheese, sour cream, avocado and salsa. The week before the wedding was purely catching up with friends and family so this was much of the same. Luckily my skirt was super comfortable so I felt great all day.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

There are few times in your life where you get so many close friends and family in one place. Take a moment to stand back with your new husband or wife and take it all in.
