In the Emanuela Gown
A GLL woman is to you…
Adventurous, playful and bursting at the seams with love.
What is it you loved about your GLL gown and accessories?
The fabric on the Emanuela gown fit like a dream. The stretch lace was absolutely perfect for a boogie and it was so light and easy to wear in the Hawaiian heat!
Did you go to a GLL showroom or purchase your gown online? Tell us about this experience.
I went to the Gold Coast showroom with my Mother and Maid of Honour. It was such an amazing experience and my Stylist Nicola was so sweet and welcoming. It was a beautiful afternoon filled with cookies, champagne and beautiful gowns!
Describe your wedding day look…
My hair stylist described it as “Bohemian Boudoir” (with a tropical twist)
What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?
It was important to us to create a memory that our guests would remember forever while still maintaining that cool and relaxed Hawaiian vibe. Most importantly, we always try to walk a little lighter for Mother Earth so finding an eco-friendly wedding planner was a must.
The funniest moment on the day was…
To my surprise, I remained cool and calm throughout the entire ceremony (I am definitely the emotional one). My aunt and uncle sang our first dance and as soon as the music started I lost it… Luckily my baby cousin (who sported a bright pink tutu) decided to bust her own dance moves and crash our first dance! We let her dance with us for the remainder of the song and my tears turned to laughter. We now joke that I will be the drunk old lady at her wedding and crash her dance too!
What was the most stressful part to planning?
I had an amazing wedding planner who helped me manage the stress levels. I guess for us it was booking a lot of vendors who we haven’t met before since it was a destination wedding. My advise to all couples who are planning an overseas wedding is to not skip out on that fabulous wedding planner or coordinator. They are lifesavers.
Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…
Eat healthy foods and manage your stress levels with yoga, tea and a bit of whisky. Take care of your mind and your body will catch up.
Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…
We try our best to care for this planet. Weddings can often produce quite a bit of waste so we strongly encourage other couples to consider the environment before deciding on certain items and materials. You would be surprised how easy it was to create an eco-friendly wedding! We rented almost everything, eliminate plastic straws, swapped paper napkins for cloth, did all vendor contacts via e-mail (thanks to our planner), name cards/table numbers on ti-leaves, menus on repurposed wood and the easiest of all – invitations via facebook! We also managed to save a little money in the process.
