Damon & Mirte
In the Lottie Gown
A GLL woman is to you…
One word. Effortless.
How did you find Grace Loves Lace?
Instagram – don’t we all.
How did you choose your GLL dress?
I brought with me 2 bold Italians, a fiery Parisian and a cut throat Dutchie. They were brutally honest and it was perfect. The first dress I tried on… was the one.
Describe your wedding day look…
Everything was remembering our time when we were travelling. We had thai pillows on the floor, thai dancers and we created a walking street for the food. The dress code was all white. The wedding party had colours. Damon’s side wore blue and my side wore pink.I had a man of honour and a maid of honour and Damon had a best man and a best woman so we thought giving each side a colour would work well.
How did he propose?
At the time we got engaged I was living in Amsterdam and Damon was living in Melbourne. I was finishing up my studies and he was setting things back up in Australia. His best friend, Al, always told me that Damon was missing me like crazy and that he wanted to surprise him one day by flying me over. One day I got the phone call. I was so excited! I made a big story with my friends how I was going to Paris with a group of girls. We made photos of the car, suitcases and the girl gang. It was the perfect cover. 5 hours driving to Paris is the same amount of time as flying to Dubai so I would be able to make my first call to him at my first stop. “Paris is great babe, but I cant talk we are going out. Speak to you tomorrow.” After that I hopped back onto the plain to Melbourne. When I got off I got picked up and we drove to a hotel. Al said he organized everything and that Damon would come here for work tomorrow so I could surprise him. I started unpacking when the door knocked. It must be room service I thought! When I opened the door Damon was standing there, in a suit. He dropped on one knee and said “I am sorry, I know you wanted to surprise me but it was all my plan. Will you marry me?” I think you know what my answer was…

The funniest moment on the day was…
All the people that spoke were just so amazing. They all had such heartwarming heartfelt things to say while often being absolutely hilarious. I will never forget my brother who asked 3 of my cousins (who are 4 heads taller then Damon) to stand behind him while he pretended to give Damon a piece of his mind. Brilliant.
Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…
Do everything you can or need the days before the wedding. When you wake up on your wedding day, just relax, do yoga, meditate and ask your friends to take care of you. Smile. This is it. Everyone told me I was the most relaxed bride they have ever seen. The thing is, you have given it your all and now it’s time to relax. It’s going to be amazing and perfection is in the eye of the beholder.
