Aleah and Christian in Aura

Real bride Aleah shares her love story with Christian, their unhurried elopement on Lake Como, and the Aura gown, a dress she fell for the moment she put it on.

A Love That Found Its Way Back

Christian and Aleah found each other twice. They first met through mutual friends in high school, the way so many great love stories quietly begin, but life had other plans and they went their separate ways through college.

Years later, they reconnected at a Christmas party back in Ohio while Christian was stationed in San Diego with the Navy. Something clicked back into place almost immediately.

There was no single lightning bolt moment when they knew. It was more of a slow, certain realisation built over time. They kept showing up for each other, kept choosing the relationship, even when life was full and demanding. That consistency, that quiet commitment, was how they both knew.

No Crowd, No Fanfare

After Christian had suggested a weekend getaway and had everything handled, Aleah knew something was up as usually she is the planner. Reservations were booked and itineraries sorted, she knew this was going to be something special.

He had planned a hike through Sequoia National Park, just the two of them and their two dogs, Roman and Hugo, winding through one of the most magnificent landscapes in California. Towering trees, fresh mountain air, the dogs happily trotting ahead like they owned the place. It was the kind of morning that felt easy and full at the same time.

And then he stopped on the trail and got down on one knee.

Aleah had suspected something was coming, but in that moment, surrounded by all that stillness and beauty with their little family right there, it still took her breath away. It was so perfectly them. No crowd, no fanfare. Just the people and the place that matter most.

Intimate, Intentional and Completely Unhurried

When Aleah and Christian first started dreaming about their wedding, they kept coming back to the same feeling. They wanted it to feel aligned with them. Intimate, intentional and completely unhurried. No seating charts, no timelines, no stress, just the two of them, fully present in one of the most breathtaking places on earth. So when the idea of Eloping on Lake Como was being discussed, they both knew this was it.

They both wrote their own vows, words that were honest and personal and meant only for each other. Afterward, they made their way to a stunning villa, where they captured the moments they’ll carry with them forever. And then, because Lake Como demands it, they took to the water. Just the two of them, out on the lake with the Alps in the distance and nowhere else to be.

A Dress that felt like her

When it came to choosing her wedding dress, Aleah wasn't sure exactly what she was after. She'd never been the girl with her wedding planned out in her head, she just knew the feeling she wanted: something light, effortless, and easy to move in. A dress that felt like her on an ordinary day, just elevated.

When she put Aura on for the first time, she knew it was the one. Getting emotional and caught off guard by her own reaction was everything she needed, proof she'd found the right dress. There was nothing to overthink or talk herself into. It just fit, it just looked right, and it just felt like the dress she was meant to wear on the day she married Christian.

Advice for future brides

"Looking back, I truly wouldn’t change a single thing. There was a moment throughout the day where I felt a quiet sadness that my friends and family weren’t there to share it with us. That part was real. But from the moment we exchanged our vows to the last sip of champagne on that boat, I knew in my bones that we had made the right decision.

For any future Grace Brides, here is what I would say. Make sure you are obsessed with your dress. Not just in love with it, obsessed. You’ll know the difference when you find it.

And beyond that, do what feels right for you and your partner. There is so much noise when it comes to planning a wedding. So many opinions, so many expectations, so much pressure to make it look a certain way. But at the end of the day, this is about you and the person you are choosing to spend your life with. Your love, your commitment, your day. Trust that, and you really cannot go wrong."
