Nat & Alex in Honey Silk
A whirlwind Hunter Valley wedding: Nat and Alex proved that four months is all you need when you've found the one — and the perfect silk wedding gown to match.
Their Story
It started in a club — and yes, Nat will be the first to tell you that doesn't sound romantic. But when Alex caught her eye and made his way over armed with questionable (but hilarious) dance moves, something clicked. The odds weren't exactly in their favour — Nat in Sydney, Alex in Newcastle, two hours between them — but most weekends one of them was making the drive, and before long she'd packed up Sydney and made the move north.
When it came time to propose, Alex knew exactly where — Tasmania, a place that holds special meaning for them both. The ring arrived the day before they flew out. He woke Nat at the crack of dawn, drove to Cradle Mountain, and set up a tripod under the guise of couple photos. At the serene and crowd-free Dove Lake, he got down on one knee. Frustration dissolved instantly into tears and a resounding yes. Worth the early start, we'd say.
The Wedding Day
Nat and Alex chose The Sienna in the Hunter Valley — a venue they stumbled across on Instagram and fell in love with before they'd even stepped foot inside. One site visit later, it was booked. The day delivered everything they'd hoped for: gorgeous weather, not a single hitch, and the warmth of every person they loved gathered together in one beautiful place.
"People always say your wedding day is the best day of your life, and that couldn't be more accurate."
Two moments stand out above the rest. The first — seeing each other at the aisle, that sharp, breath-stealing instant when everything becomes real. The second — a quiet, private moment they carved out just for themselves after the ceremony, stepping away together to let it all sink in. In the middle of the celebration, a still and sacred pause.
"I just wanted to stay in it forever.”
Grace Loves Lace had been on Nat's list from the very beginning. She visited the Alexandria boutique and tried on dress after dress and loved them all. But then came the Honey Silk gown with the additional eyelash lace, and everything changed.
She wouldn't take it off.
She kept walking laps around the boutique in it. It was the only dress she asked to try a veil with. It was the only one where she could close her eyes and clearly see herself walking down the aisle. Her mum was by her side for the moment, a memory Nat says she'll cherish forever.
Word from the bride
Nat and Alex pulled off a four-month wedding, and while the speed kept decision fatigue at bay, it did add pressure. Her advice to future brides? Give yourself a little breathing room, but more importantly, be present for every single moment of the experience.
"Slow down and be present. It goes by so fast."
