Groom, kissing the bride with passion

A Personal Touch

Here at GRACE, we firmly believe that a DIY wedding should be a reflection of the couple's love story, channeling their life's vision into the celebration. The couple chose to handle everything themselves, turning their wedding into a family effort. The celebration was all about bringing together what make them so strong and unique.

Zoe's Mom, a talented florist, took care of the floral arrangements while her Uncle who collaborates with music artists and festivals, brought the lighting, microphones and DJ set. Family and friends helped with bars, props and photobooths, a close friend even stepping up as photographer. Zoe's aunts created a charcuterie board for cocktail hour and her Mom's sister, who owns an açaí and juice shop, set up an açaí bar. "Everyone chipped in. We're really lucky", Zoe explains.

Enchanting Backyard Extravaganza

Backyard DIY

The couple tied the knot in a charming and one-of-a-kind backyard venue. This exceptional location was located at their parent's house in Fallbrook, California where Ezra spent nine months working on the landscape for their celebration. But this was no ordinary backyard wedding. The newlywed hosted 262 people!

The wedding festivities were filled with joy, authenticity, and exotic flavors where guests were greeted with Açai bowls and were served stone-fired pizza out of a fire truck for dinner. For their special day, Ezra and Zoe chose to embrace their love for ink by having a tattoo station at the wedding. This emerging trend is one of our favorites!

An Ode to Authenticity, Emotions, and Love.

When we think of their first dance, anticipation and excitement comes to mind. Zoe and Ezra chose to make a bold statement, showing us how to break free from tradition and pay tribute to love with poise and positivity. Zoe decided to give away her first dance to her Mother and Father, who never have the chance to celebrate their own wedding or first dance when they eloped at the age of 18 to marry in secret. "It was a truly special moment to give them this experience", Zoe shares, "they are the embodiment of young, true love and have supported us throughout our relationship in so many ways. When I made the announcement, my Mom was immediately in tears and my Dad had so much love in his eyes as he gave her his hand. He’s such a gentleman and she’s so in love. They were made for eachother." Contemporary brides will never cease to amaze us!

Bride, alongside the bridesmaid party

Words of Wisdom

Zoe and Ezra chose to embrace authenticity and celebrate in their own way. Zoe shares, "do things your way! It's your day. Ezra and I had all our photos taken before the guests arrived for the ceremony. This allowed us to have some private time together after the ceremony and enjoy the cocktail hour with everyone. We also had our bridal party walk down the aisle and sit in the front, rather than stand next to us. Only our three siblings stood with us."

Trends come and go. While many brides meticulously select matching bridesmaid dresses, others have proven that mismatched bridesmaid dresses are the new norm of 2023! Each dress has a different color to match distinct personalities. We absolutely love how women's flair shine by blending alternating colors with their outfits.

So, let's set aside the overwhelming details and truly enjoy the day. Ever thought about swapping your bridesmaids' bouquets for parasols? For Zoe, no flowers, no problem!"None of my bridesmaids held bouquets. Instead, we gave them parasols. It was great for the photos, given that we had an outdoor wedding. We also used them for the first look with my girls."

As we tie the knot, we often overlook that it's our special day and our celebration of love. While being present for your guests is important, remember to also make time for your partner. Zoe's advice for the big day is simple,"be as present as possible. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed and it goes by so fast. Take some breaks if you can to regroup and be with your hubby! And then run back out and dance the night away."
