The Romance of Lachlan and Jolene

The couple's relationship took root in their first year of college. After dating for several years, they eventually went their separate ways. However, after some time apart, the couple reconnected, realising their deeply rooted bond from their college days remained. Jolene describes their love story as “two people who, after some detours, found their way back to each other.” There was no one defining moment where Jolene knew Lachlan was ‘The One,’ but “it is the endless small kindnesses and acts of love that he shows me every day (like making me great coffee every morning),” she highlights.

Jolene and Lachlan share a love for road-tripping, which led them to the whimsical setting of the Promised Land, near Bellingen, NSW. Amid the crystal-clear swimming hole and lush oasis of trees and rockscapes, the two found themselves completely alone. There, Lachlan chose the perfect moment to propose, followed by a celebration with champagne and oysters at their romantic lodge.

A Private Boutique Hotel Ceremony in Byron Bay, NSW

Lachlan and Jolene shared an intimate ceremony with 28 close family members. It was a relaxed yet elegant daytime affair set in a private penthouse at Rae’s on Wategos in Byron Bay, Australia. The non-traditional venue ensured the couple could tailor the day to suit them with no strict timelines; “it was all very fluid, which is reflective of how we both are,” Jolene reflects. When looking at venues, Jolene had been to Rae’s restaurant many times, describing it as “simply iconic.” Its unique style and incredible food made it an easy decision for the couple. To showcase the quality of the food, Jolene shares how they were awarded two Good Food Hats on the day of their wedding, an honour for Australian chefs.

Jolene emphasises “the whole day and just the love you feel,” describing the best moments as the spontaneous ones. The speeches truly celebrated the couple’s love story, as the intimacy of the audience allowed guests to feel comfortable adding little comments, making their speeches a fun experience. A highlight for the newlyweds was Jolene’s 2-year-old nephew running towards them with their wedding bands and giving them a big hug—the best surprise.

Although Jolene and Lachlan did not plan for a dance floor, their guests stayed and relished the moment, dancing the night away. “The whole day felt like one huge warm hug, and every vendor and the Rae's team made us feel so special,” Jolene reminisces.

A Goldie Bride

A halter gown was never on Jolene’s radar, but once she tried on Goldie, she knew it was the perfect choice. Jolene sought a gown that was both simple and glamorous, with an effortless drape that highlighted her body beautifully. With less than four months before the couple tied the knot, our Ready to Wear range provided Jolene with her ideal wedding dress. “I loved how easy choosing a dress from a Ready to Wear line was and immediately took a huge weight off my shoulders as time was not on my side,” Jolene highlights.

Stepping into our Burleigh boutique was a seamless experience for the bride. “Kara from the Burleigh boutique was a dream and made the whole process so easy. It really helped seeing photos of how many ways the Goldie had been worn on real brides,” she shares. Jolene accessorised her gown with a custom petal headband from Lena Rom for a whimsical touch, along with wearing her late grandmother’s diamond ring.
